Attending

Dee Hunter, Alan Rosenthal, Louis Nayman, Phil Spalding, Peter Nevenglosky, Nicole Streeter, Scott Pomeroy

Next Meeting Date - Feb 1, 2005

Between Friends

The roll call hearing was held on Dec 15. CSNA was granted standing as a protestant. The ABRA chair instructed the owners of Between Friends to contact protestants to set up a meeting to discuss grievances.  The business is in Chapter 7 bankruptcy.  Prior to the next CSNA meeting, Dee Hunter will contact ABRA counsel to set up a meeting to discuss effect of bankruptcy on the ABC license process. Alan Rosenthal will also attend meeting.  Marco Santiago is the contact person who will expedite receipt of police reports. Peter Nevenglosky is collecting the reports.

Kili's Kafe & Lounge

The Business is requesting a renewal of their CN03 license. The hearing date is on Jan 12. CSNA is the only protestant. Alan Rosenthal will attend hearing to gain standing in the process.  Jim Graham has signed the CSNA letter of protest. His office will provide background information and legal support in the case.  Myla Moss will be representing the interests of the LeDroit Park Civic Association in the protest.

The ABC Committee will be seeking background information and legal support from Councilman Graham’s office.

Peter Nevenglosky will be collecting reports on police calls for service at the establishment.

Voluntary Agreement Template

The VA template was reviewed and changes were suggested to the section on Grievance Procedures. Nicole Streeter will update the template.

Neighborhood database

Scott Pomeroy provided an update.

Upcoming ABC Cases

  • Mango’s on 14th St. The restaurant is requesting a change from a CR (restaurant) license to a CT (tavern) license. The committee will not recommend to oppose the change.
  • U-Turn at 11th and U. The business has requested to extend its hours until 6:00 AM to be able to serve breakfast. There was a discussion about the recent history of the business and the consensus of the committee was to oppose the extended hours.

Other Items

Dukem Restaurant was discussed. The restaurant becomes a club after 11:00. Alan Rosenthal reported that the music from the club is loud enough to be heard halfway down 12th St. Phil Spalding said that with a complaint like this, he could request an ABRA investigation.
