The U Street Neighborhood Association will host a community festival highlighting the exciting aspects of living in the Greater U Street neighborhood on Saturday, August 1, 2009, from 10 am to 3 pm, in conjunction with the 10th Annual MidCity Dog Days of August Sidewalk Sale weekend.  More information about Dog Days is online at www.midcitylife.org

CLS Wine Club and CSNA Fundraiser on Wednesday, June 17 Print E-mail

ImagePlease join the City Living Magazine Wine Club for a wine tasting and fund raising event on Wednesday, June 17 from 7 to 9 pm at Vinoteca , 1940 11th Street, NW.  Tickets are only $25 in advance or $35 at the door.  Advance tickets can be purchased at Vinoteca or by calling them at 202-332-WINE (9463). 
 
$5 of each ticket sold will be donated to CSNA.  Ticket includes wine, cheese, and a raffle entry to win one of many door prizes from local greater U Street neighborhood businesses.

DC Office of Planning Moving to Reeves Center Print E-mail

ImageThe DC Office of Planning will relocate from 801 North Capitol Street, NE to 2000 14th Street, NW, 4th Floor -- The Reeves Center -- during the week of January 26, 2009. There may be some interruption of office services during this period. 
 
However, customers may continue to reach OP staff at the same phone numbers and email addresses during the move. On February 2, 2009, the Office of Planning will be open to customers at our new location in the Reeves Center.  

To reach the Office of Planning, call (202) 442-7600 between 8:30 am and 5 pm weekdays.
 
CSNA Holiday Party and Silent Auction at Nellie's - 7 pm, Thu., Dec. 11 Print E-mail

Image `Tis the Season for the neighborhood holiday party of the year -- the Annual Cardozo Shaw Neighborhood Association Holiday Party and Silent Auction!  Come meet and celebrate with your neighbors and celebrate CSNA's and our neighborhoods' 2008 successes!
 
Come party with CSNA and your neighbors "Up on the Roofdeck!" on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Nellies' Sports Bar, 900 U Street, NW.  The fun begins at 7 pm and ends, well, honestly, whenever.
 
You do not need to be a CSNA member to enjoy in the fun, but the Holiday Party is always a great time to renew or join for 2009!
 
The theme of this year's party is "Dine, Shop, Experience Your Neighborhood – It’s All Here!" and once again, the silent auction features food, wine, and entertainment - including some fine wines, jewelry, and gift certificates for many of your favorite spots in the neighborhood, Ben's Chili Bowl, Chix, Duffy's Irish Pub, Marvin, Lee's Flower Shop, Solly's U Street Tavern, Town, and much more!

Silent auction items continue to grow by the day - and an updated list of auction items will be posted soon.

Extended Hours for All Liquor Licenses During Inauguration Week Print E-mail

ImageEmergency legislation was approved by the D.C. Council on December 2, 2008, which will allow any DC establishment with a liquor license, including restaurants, taverns, and nightclubs, to serve alcohol until 5 am, and serve food 24 hours a day, from January 17 until the morning after Obama's swearing-in on January 20, 2009.
 
Many are expecting record crowds for President-Elect Obama's Inauguration .
 
Both The Washington Post and Washington City Paper have stories on this legislation.
 
Mayor Adrian Fenty has yet to sign the legislation into law.
