 Brian Card, CSNA's Public Safety Chair, provided the following notes from the Metropolitan Police Department's (MPD) PSA 305 meeting, May 5, 2009, at the Housing Finance Agency. Present at the meeting from Third District MPD were: Lt. Jova, Marco Santiago, MPO Wilson, Sgt. Jackson, and another MPD officer; John DeTaye from Councilmember Graham’s office; a representative from Nightclub 9:30; Luella Johnson from CSOSA; Myla Moss, ANC 1B01; Brian Card, CSNA Public Safety Chair, and other residents. Lt. Jova reported that we have had an increase in robberies (robbery with & without gun). Lt Jova provided a crime statistics report comparing all types of crime for the current thirty days with the past thirty days. For the time period April 4th – May 4th there were 15 robberies without gun (previous 30 days was 6); 10 robberies with gun (previous 30 days was 2); and overall crime was 113 incidents (previous 30 days was 70 incidents). In addition to MPD, several District agencies were in attendance. MPD was represented by Captain Snyder, Lt. Jova, Marco Santiago, MPO Wilson, and Sgt. Jackson; three representatives from the Office of Unified Communications (3-1-1/9-1-1); two representatives from Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA); Yaiza Garabito-Burrell from the Executive Office the Mayor.  The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect who committed First Degree Burglary and First Degree Sexual Abuse on Marion Street, NW on the morning of April 6, 2009. During the early morning hours of Monday, April 6, 2009, a male suspect entered a residence located in the 1500 block of Marion Street, NW and sexually assaulted the adult female occupant. He then stole property and fled the scene. The suspect is described a medium complexioned black male in his late 20's, 5'10" tall, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIM[E] (1-888-919-2746). Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to DC CRIME SOLVERS at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by a caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. |

 Brian Card, CSNA's Public Safety Chair, provided the following notes from the PSA 305 meeting, February 3, 2009, at the Housing Finance Agency. Present: Third District MPD (MPO Wilson, Ofc. Coleman, and Captain Snyder); 2 Representatives from Howard University Police, 1 Representative from CSOSA; and 7 residents.
The meeting started at 7:18 after waiting for various community members to arrive. The MPD officers (Wilson and Coleman) stated that Lt. Jova was unable to come and the Captain would be there. Captain Synder arrived after the meeting started. He stated that he had started in the 3rd District in Nov 2008 and was the Shift Watch Commander for PSAs 303, 305, 307, and 308.
