Metropolitan Police Department will activate its Joint Operations Command Center, including the network of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, as a routine public safety measure for New Year's Eve in the District of Columbia. Beginning at approximately 6 pm on Saturday, December 31, the Department will activate its network of 19 CCTV cameras to help police monitor for any suspicious or unusual activities along the National Mall and in commercial areas downtown and in Georgetown. No additional cameras outside the existing CCTV network are scheduled to be deployed. |

At approximately 8:45 am on Monday, February 3, 2003, police were called to an apartment building, located at 2331 15th Street, NW, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival they located the body of 51-year-old Gordon Rollins, of the 700 block of Girard Street, NW, in a stairwell suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was taken to the Howard University Hospital and pronounced dead at 9:25 am. The above case was closed on Tuesday, December 27, 2005, with the arrest of 44-year-old Keith Little of the 1100 block of First Terrace, NW. He was charged with First Degree Murder While Armed. |
