The Friends of Harrison Recreation Center is an official DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) Park Partner, and was formed in 2009 as a project of the U Street Neighborhood Association, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit which has been working for nearly 20 years to improve and maintain the quality of life and advocate for everyone in our Greater U Street neighborhood.
The Friends of Harrison Recreation Center works directly DPR to involve the community on how to improve the recreation center through capital improvements and design changes, and to enhance management and programming of the park, with the goal of making Harrison Recreation Center a better designed, cleaner, safer, and better managed park in the neighborhood for all to use and enjoy. All films will be shown at the field at Harrison Recreation Center, 1330 V Street, NW (on V Street between 13th and 14th Streets, NW). Gates will open at 7 pm. Free popcorn will be provided to the first 100 attendees beginning at 8 pm. Showtime will be at sundown around 8:30 pm.

 Tonight's screening (July 13) of the Buena Vista Social Club as part of the U Street Movie Series - Harrison Field Under the Stars U Street Movie Series has been rescheduled due to the forecast of poor weather tonight and the very soggy condition of the field at Harrison Recreation Center. "Buena Vista Social Club" will be shown on July 20, with gates opening at 7pm and the movie beginning at dusk. We hope to see you then!  Hundreds of U Street neighbors once again came together to watch the The Soloist as part of U Street Movie Series - Harrison Field Under the Stars on August 10, 2010, and enjoyed a movie and supported the Friends of Harrison Recreation Center.
