The JBG Companies have provided an update to CSNA on plans for their proposed "U Street Hotel" project, including changes to the site plan.

JBG will provide an update on these changes at CSNA's March meeting, Thursday, March 12, 2009, 7 pm at Source, 1835 14th Street, NW, in the 2nd Floor Rehearsal Room.

JBG has recently met with neighbors to detail changes to their site plan and review the complete project.  The most significant change is to planned curb cuts for alley and garage access along 13th Street, NW.

JBG's previous design featured multiple curb cuts on 13th Street: two 10-feet-wide curb cuts in addition to the existing 10-feet, 3-inches alley curb cut.  Revised plans now show only an increase to the existing alley curb cut from 10-feet, 3-inches to 24-feet-wide to accommodate the alley, parking, and loading entrances.  The previously proposed second and third curb cuts have been eliminated.  Images of the new curb cut alignment is provided below.

   New Curb Cut Proposal

Current Curb Cut Proposal: One 24-foot-wide curb cut

Old Curb Cut Proposal

Previous Curb Cut Proposal: Two 10-foot-wide, and one 10-foot, 3-inches-wide curb cuts

Current proposed designs are subject to change, and JBG continues to study a number of alternatives which will address community concerns.  Those efforts will also be presented at the March CSNA meeting.
