U Street Hotel Loses a Floor and 12 Rooms Print E-mail

ImageThe JBG Companies have provided CSNA with an update on their proposed U Street Hotel project.  Since the presentation at CSNA's March meeting , JBG has made some changes to the concept plans.
 
The U Street Hotel project remains in the concept planning stage, but in anticipation of submission of concept plans to the DC Historic Preservation Office for staff review, JBG has made several changes in cluding reducing the overall height of the building and removed the 10th floor.

A summary of the changes made by JBG include:
  • Elimination of the 10th floor
  • 9th floor has been stepped back from the front of the building, the 9th floor is now centered on the building
  • Height from street curb to parapet is now 87 feet, previously was 98 feet
  • Highest point of building is now 103 feet, previously was 110 feet
  • Height to mechanical penthouse is now 118 feet, previously was 123 feet
  • Reduced to 239 hotel rooms (reduction of 12 rooms)
In the coming days, JBG will be providing new images and information to CSNA, including responses to information requested during CSNA's March meeting .
 
CSNA continues to collect information from the neighborhood, JBG, the DC government, and others, and make it available on the CSNA U Street Hotel project page: ustreethotel.csnadc.org.
