Will Eastman presented plans for the U Street Music Hall at 1115 U Street, NW. The venue will be an affordably priced, 300 person dance hall. They have worked to address issues of noise, trash, and crowds in public space. To address noise, 400 sound abatement panels / plastic baffles have been installed. To address trash, a compactor will be installed, and they are sharing the dumpster located in the alley with Subway and 7-11. To address sidewalk noise, someone will always be at the door when the facility is open, to check IDs and keep lines orderly. Also, they will discourage promoters and DJs from distributing flyers in an effort to avoid having flyers lying on the street/sidewalk or on cars. 1801 14th Street – Thaddeus Curtz presented plans for “Standard” which would be a burger/salad restaurant with outdoor seating. The establishment is applying for a CR license with 15 seats inside, a summer garden and sidewalk café. ANC1B and ANC2B have made motions to protest the license. Ramon Estrada expressed that ANC2B is in support of alcohol sales until 11 pm Monday – Thursday and 12 am Friday – Saturday. Scott Pomeroy that Thaddeus speaks with ANC2F as well, knowing that there are residences across S Street may be affected. Jon Kardon suggested selling beer and wine until closing at 2 or 3 am, but cutting off the sale of hard liquor at late hours. Ramon proposed considering applying for a DR license instead of CR license. It was also suggested that foliage could be used as a soundproofing measure for the outdoor seating.
