DDOT Releases 15th Street Bike Lane User Survey Print E-mail
Written by U Street Neighborhood Association
ImageIn response to community concerns regarding traffic speeds and pedestrian and bicycle safety on 15th Street, NW north of Massachusetts Avenue, NW, DDOT analyzed various options to reconfigure the street. As a hybrid alternative, DDOT installed the contra-flow protected cycle track between Massachusetts Avenue and U Street as a pilot project.

This is both the first protected cycle track and the first contra-flow bicycle lane in Washington, D.C. and as such DDOT is committed to analyzing the cycle track for improvements and lessons to apply to future cycle tracks. Included in this analysis are traffic data (speed and volume), bicycle and pedestrian counts and observations, cycle track user surveys, and general user surveys.

If you live or work on or near 15th Street NW between Massachusetts Avenue and U Street, or if you use this stretch to walk, cycle or drive, please visit the on-line survey .

Feel free to forward this link to anyone you know who uses 15th Street. DDOT will also be distributing paper copies to residents in the 15th Street area for those without internet access. The results will be presented, along with other data collected, in a final analysis report.
