The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) advises residents and motorists that sidewalk improvements began yesterday along the 1300 block of Florida Avenue, NW between 13th and 14th Streets. The work is slated to be completed by the end of August. Work will consist of installing new brick sidewalks.

In addition, roadway restoration will be taking place on Barry Place, NW, between Sherman Avenue and Georgia Avenue. This work will begin on or about July 30, 2007 and will be completed by the end of August, weather permitting.

This project will consist of the repairing the sidewalk, gutter, driveway ramps, and resetting of curb where necessary. DDOT construction crews on Barry Place will also mill and resurface the existing roadway.

The work on both projects will take place between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday (Saturday work possible). At all times during construction at least one lane in both directions will remain open for use and access to the adjacent homes and businesses will be maintained.

DDOT thanks residents and motorists for their patience and reminds both to be safe and to stay alert while traversing the work zone.
