Our neighbors on W Street, the residents of Capitol Manor, recently had the incredible story of their struggles and their ultimate successes told by The Washington Post.  Over three days in December The Washington Post shared the details of our neighbors’ efforts over the last four years.

The goal of the residents of Capitol Manor was a simple one – purchase their building and renovate it to keep it from being sold and developed by a private developer – to create a home for each resident to not only live in, but to call their own.

Washington Post staff writer Debbi Wilgoren was the writer of this effort as The Washington Post followed the tenants of Capital Manor for more than four years as they struggled to purchase and renovate their apartment complex, preserving their place in the rapidly gentrifying U Street corridor.
